Jeminay Port is now the second port in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region to offer a 72-hour visa-free policy to Kazakhstan citizens. An Aug 12 visit from a delegation of 21 Kazakhstan government officials announced the formal implementation of this policy.

The delegation said the new policy will facilitate cultural and economic exchanges as well as communication between the two countries. The port connects China and Central Asian countries including Kazakhstan.

As important parts of the Silk Road Economic Zone, the Xinjiang Altay region and Kazakhstan have similar cultures and a historically friendly relationship. In May 2013, the area’s three-day visa-free special service was approved by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China.

The number of international flights from Jeminay county to Zaysan county in East Kazakhstan Province have increased. The port’s operating time is up from five days to six days per week.
