Musical instrument makers in Xinjiang
“I started to learn how to make musical instruments from my dad when I was 12. Now I have more than 20 apprentices,” says Kuerban Shamixi from Jiayi village, Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region. To keep the ancient ethnic craft alive, the local government offers free lessons on ethnic musical instrument making.
