A place of prosperity and good fortune
“My family love the name of our home city — Changji, as it stands for prosperity and good fortune,” says Makexiu, a resident of the city of Changji in the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region. He believes history and culture are the soul of a city and often takes his children to historical places to learn about the city's past. One of the local historical sites is the Changji Ancient City, which was built in the Tang Dynasty (618-907) and became an important stop on the ancient Silk Road.
