More than 180,000 people with disabilities have found stable jobs in the last five years in the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, according to the regional federation for the disabled.

Concrete measures have been taken by the region to promote employment in that category. Meanwhile, relevant policy systems have been improved to protect the rights and interests of workers with disabilities.

Multiple forms of employment are encouraged to help boost flexible employment and increase personal income. A vocational skills training system has been established to provide instructions and support for job seekers with disabilities over the past two years.

The Party and government institutions in the region have played a prominent role. Last year, regional-level government bodies, public institutions and State-owned enterprises in Xinjiang recruited 12 employees with disabilities and offered temporary positions to 52 others.

Cai Hongyan, director of the disabled persons' employment service center in Xinjiang, said that further improvements will be made to explore new forms of employment for these people and to provide better employment services to targeted groups. For instance, people with disabilities will be encouraged to start their own businesses or apply for jobs in the commerce industry.
