China's largest photovoltaic-based (PV) hydrogen production project commenced operations on August 30, in Kuqa city, Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region. This remarkable venture marks the first large-scale utilization of PV power to directly produce green hydrogen in China.

The PV power stations, with a total capacity of 300 megawatts, have been connected to the grid, enabling the generation of green electricity. The electricity will be transmitted over 20 kilometers to a hydrogen production facility, where it will be used to electrolyze water, producing hydrogen gas. The generated hydrogen gas will then be transported via pipelines to refining enterprises, ultimately promoting the greening of petroleum products.

This innovative project showcases the immense potential of combining renewable energy and hydrogen production technologies, paving the way for a more sustainable and eco-friendly future. China's commitment to reducing carbon emissions and promoting clean energy solutions is evident in this groundbreaking initiative.
