The ancient Yotkan city in Hotan prefecture, Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, amazes tourists by reproducing traditional trade and arts along the ancient Silk Road.

Yotkan carries a history of 13 centuries and was once the capital of the Buddhist kingdom of Yutian. By renovating the city with ancient architecture and organizing cultural events, it aims to raise awareness of its ancient culture and promote tourism.

The attraction has old castles, a food street, a jade block, a folk customs street, bars, bed-and-breakfasts and cultural exhibition halls. During the day, visitors can view scenes of trade caravans marching on the roads and changing of the guard ceremonies, and catch a glimpse of daily life. At night, a light show and performance of dancing and singing tell the history of the city.
